Prólogo del autor

Turku tiene una forma peculiar de observar a quienes caminan por sus calles. A veces parece que la ciudad escucha, que guarda silencios, que respira con uno. Quizá por eso esta historia nació aquí, entre el rumor del Aura y las luces que se encienden cuando el día decide retirarse.

Este fragmento pertenece a una obra que puede leerse desde dos miradas: la comedia ligera del despistado que intenta orientarse en una ciudad que nunca termina de revelar sus secretos, y la sombra introspectiva de Kaikku, ese eco que aparece cuando la noche decide hablar.

Ambas versiones son la misma historia. Ambas son verdaderas.

Fragmento

El protagonista llegó a Turku sin saber muy bien por qué. Había leído que era una ciudad tranquila, amable, perfecta para perderse sin que nadie hiciera demasiadas preguntas. Y eso, precisamente eso, era lo que necesitaba.

La primera mañana caminó junto al río Aura con un mapa arrugado en la mano. El papel temblaba con el viento, como si también él dudara del camino. Los edificios antiguos parecían observarlo desde arriba, pacientes, como quien ya ha visto a muchos viajeros intentar descifrar la ciudad sin éxito.

—¿Estoy en el sitio correcto? —murmuró. Pero Turku no respondió. Turku nunca responde de inmediato.

Un ciclista pasó a su lado, una campana sonó, y el protagonista sintió que la ciudad lo invitaba a seguir adelante. No sabía que aquella invitación era el comienzo de algo más grande: una comedia de errores, encuentros inesperados, y un misterio que se escondía en los lugares donde nadie mira.

Y en algún punto, cuando la noche cayó sobre los tejados, el eco apareció. Kaikku. La sombra que observa. La presencia que no exige ser entendida, solo reconocida.

Author’s Preface

Turku has a peculiar way of watching those who walk through its streets. Sometimes it feels as if the city listens, keeps its silences, and breathes with you. Perhaps that is why this story was born here, between the whisper of the Aura River and the lights that awaken when the day steps aside.

This fragment belongs to a story that can be read from two perspectives: the light‑hearted comedy of an absent‑minded newcomer trying to navigate a city that never fully reveals itself, and the introspective shadow of Kaikku, the echo that appears when the night decides to speak.

Both versions are the same story. Both are true.

Fragment

The protagonist arrived in Turku without really knowing why. He had read that it was a quiet, gentle city—perfect for getting lost without anyone asking too many questions. And that, precisely that, was what he needed.

On his first morning, he walked along the Aura River with a wrinkled map in his hand. The paper trembled in the wind, as if it too doubted the path. The old buildings seemed to watch him from above, patient, as if they had seen many travelers try to decipher the city without success.

“Am I in the right place?” he whispered. But Turku did not answer. Turku never answers immediately.

A cyclist passed by, a bell rang, and he felt the city inviting him to continue. He did not yet know that this invitation was the beginning of something larger: a comedy of mistakes, unexpected encounters, and a mystery hidden in places where no one looks.

And at some point, when night settled over the rooftops, the echo appeared. Kaikku. The shadow that watches. The presence that does not demand to be understood—only acknowledged.
